FM945 adopted highway trash pickup
Outdoor Nature Club adopted two miles of FM945 in 1994. The adopted section extends one mile South of the entrance and one mile North of the entrance, basically from the San Jacinto National forest to Evergreen.
We've been keeping track of the amount of trash and, for a rural road, it is eye opening. The state requires we pick up trash at least quarterly, averaging 150 pounds of trash and 12 pounds of aluminum cans.
As of January, 2010, the total removed since 1994 is an astonishing 7300 pounds of trash and nearly 600 pounds of aluminum cans.
